The Mission: Drink my way through all recipes in one year and blog about it

I'm not a writer, but I am a drinker and a chemist. I have always had this dream of owning my own bar, calling it Mad's Lab (or something like that) and making it chemistry themed so this is just step one in that process. I acquired this Wines and Spirits book awhile back and instantly knew my calling was to drink my way through the book. Originally I hadn't intended on blogging about the experience but I've found myself in a new city, living on my own with a decent amount of free time, and a fully stocked bar (courtesy of my parents) so here I am. This idea came from the movie Julia and Julie and if you haven't seen it go watch it!! I adore that movie and have always dreamed of cooking my way through a cookbook as well, and I will one day, maybe after I lose 10 more pounds... I've decided on a deadline of one year, timer started today October 9th (fun fact it is National Moldy Cheese Day). I believe if I counted correctly there are 117 recipes of just drinks plus the hors d'Oeuvres which I have yet to count so I think one year will suffice. Easy... no pressure.. just lots of money buying vermouth and random bitters and mixers and so many recipes with EGG...

If there's one thing I can promise, it's that this blog will be filled with rambling, decent grammar, the occasional swear word, random subject changes, and lots of alcohol. Get ready, strap in, and grab a drink to enjoy with me!

Side Note: A good friend of mine passed away back in 2019. This book was among his belongings and was given to me. He was the inspiration behind many party traditions and I can't even begin to imagine how many glasses he raised in all his years. To Gene, I dedicate this journey. Cheers!
