FORMULATION
To make 1 pick-me-up
1 ounce fresh orange juice
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon grenadine
2 ounces brandy
3 to 4 ice cubes
4 ounces cold champagne
An 8-ounce wine glass, chilled
PROCEDURE
Combine the orange and lemon juices, grenadine, brandy and ice cubes in a mixing glass. Place a shaker on top of the mixing glass and , grasping them firmly together with both hands, shake vigorously. Remove the shaker, place a strainer on top of the mixing glass, and pour into a large wine glass. Rinse the shaker with champagne and pour it slowly into the wine glass.
RESULTS

Wow I liked this a lot more than I expected to. I think anytime there's fresh juice, especially orange, I tend to like it more. I love the citrus flavor and it paired well with the brandy and you get that fizz from the champagne (in my case Cupcake prosecco on sale from Kroger). I actually ended up making another drink with the last bit of prosecco I had left. It's kind of a fun holiday beverage. Not to sweet, and a little fizzy!
Below I've included some images, I've found that once ounce is equal to about half the fruit, meaning a 1/2 ounce is a quarter of the fruit and this held true with this recipe. I'm sure you could use orange juice from the carton but when I can I love to use fresh oranges, for some reason I find it rewarding and I get a bit more of that citrus flavor.
DISCUSSION
Couldn't find much information on a Champagne Pick Me Up. There's a lot of different versions, I could see this being a great brunch beverage. Try it out and let me know what you think!
