INTRODUCTION
To make 1 cocktail
2 ounces sweet vermouth
2 ounces gin
1 maraschino cherry
1 strip orange peel
A 4-ounce cocktail glass, chilled
PROCEDURE
Combine the sweet vermouth and gin in the chilled cocktail glass and stir briefly. Garnish with a cherry and orange peel.
In England, this drink is known as gin and it - "it" referring to Italian sweet vermouth.
RESULTS

Ok after recently posting my star ratings guide I can feel less bad giving things 3/5 scores. I liked this drink but it's just not for me, I would finish the drink and can comment on the flavors and notes and find things I enjoy about it in the moment but 3/5 means I drink it with no complaints but not my favorite. Ok now that I've justified that in my head, I thought the vermouth was overpowering and I felt weird stirring instead of shaking a martini. I was looking for the gin flavors more but couldn't find it. Granted I did use a Rouge Vermouth which is not exactly Sweet Vermouth (not as sweet, different flavors). I bought this vermouth for my manhattans and then decided to do this blog drinking journey and couldn't justify buying yet another vermouth but I don't think it would change my rating in the end. And just another note: this vermouth is from France and not Italy (for shame).
A simple recipe and a few pictures below to show for it. I also included a picture of my chill attire for the evening and what I was cooking for dinner (pork, apples, onions, Dijon mustard, rosemary, and thyme)..
DISCUSSION
I'm happy to have made this drink and blog about it on the same night :) I still have quite a few to post during my hiatus but I'll get to it, no pressure. I think the name on this one is quite self explanatory so no googling on this one. I would encourage you to google different vermouths, I did this when buying the Rouge Vermouth and I do think now it might be worth it to purchase a Sweet one, it's for science after all.. Cheers!
