INTRODUCTION
To make 1 cocktail
1 slice lemon
Coarse (kosher) salt
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons superfine sugar
2 ounces tequila
3 to 4 ice cubes
A 4-ounce cocktail glass, chilled
PROCEDURE
Rub the inside rim of the chilled cocktail glass with the slice of lemon. Pour salt into a saucer or cup and dip in the glass so that a thin layer of salt adheres to the moistened rim of the glass.
Combine the lemon juice and sugar in a mixing glass and stir with a muddler or bar spoon to dissolve the sugar. Add the tequila and ice cubes and place a shaker on top of the mixing glass. Grasping them firmly together with both hands, shake vigorously 6 or 7 times. Remove the shaker, place a strainer on top of the mixing glass, and pour into the salt rimmed cocktail glass.
RESULTS

I LOVED this drink. Like 6 out of 5 stars. I've never made this before, obviously I've had margs but I've used premixes and this just knocks em all out of the park. I'm sure you're wondering why it's called Margarita 1 well spoiler, there's a Margarita 2 which I'm very excited about now. I think the simplicity of the ingredients, the shaker, the frosted salt rimmed glass, all of it made this drink so delicious. A new favorite for me!!
Here are the images for this drink. We have the ingredients, a half hoot of lemon juice and a heaping teaspoon of sugar into the mixer. Side note this is my first time using my plastic mixer on the blog, let's all give a warm welcome. Next is tequila, some ice, and shaker up. Pulled the salted glass out of the freezer and filled it up. Literally such a beautiful drink, I'm obsessed. Oh a first time using my zig zag martini glasses, welcome. And here is me, very happy for this drink, and a cocktail vanity shot, so pretty :)
I used pink salt because it's all I had but I kind of like the look.
DISCUSSION
My second 5/5 star for the books. I looked up some fun facts on margaritas and I'll share some of my favs :)
"THE SALT IS IMPORTANT - The salt is there to bring out the sweet and sour flavors of the drink; even just a pinch will help subdue the bitterness and enhance the important flavors. On top of this, salt intensifies the drinker’s perception of the drink’s aromas, making the flavors even more powerful."
Couldn't be more true and probably why I love this drink so much, I'm a big fan of savory flavor and I loveee salt.
THE WORLD'S LARGEST MARGARITA WAS MADE IN LAS VEGAS - The Flamingo Hotel’s Margaritaville Casino in Las Vegas holds the honor of making the largest margarita in the world. This enormous drink was 8500 gallons (32,176 liters) and “served” in a 17-foot-tall tank. It took 60 people 300 hours to create. The drink, called the “Lucky Rita,” was created to celebrate the opening of the casino in 2011.
Incredible, you love to see it. Imagine how many people it took to drink.
THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE MARGARITA COST $1200 - In 2013, 230 FIFTH Rooftop Bar & Penthouse Lounge in Manhattan baited partiers with a frozen margarita that used some incredibly high-end ingredients—the tequila alone cost $1800 a bottle. Even the ice was made from $450 bottles of Lois Roederer Cristal Champagne. The final product was poured into a Ralph Lauren hand-blown Hungarian crystal glass that can be taken home afterward. The decadent drink was for a good cause though—half the money was donated to a charity of the drinker’s choice.
Ok... but can you imagine.. it's a frozen margarita so that expensive ice is just getting ground up with some expensive tequila.. it's a no from me.
That's all from me tonight folks, cheers!
